This report was conducted by the University of Illinois Institute of Natural Resource Sustainability to determine "Assessment and Potential of the 2007 USDA-NASS Cropland Data Layer for Statewide Annual Land Cover Applications". Their conclusion states that, "the results of this accuracy assessment analysis clearly demonstrate that the enhanced U.S. Department of Agriculture NASS CDL product, produced for the first time in 2007 for Illinois, is sufficiently accurate to be used by natural resource agencies and other organizations needing regional land cover information on a recurring basis."
