About Us

Farm Market iD is one of three business units owned by Multi Ag Media LLC. The other units being Phoenix Data Processing www.phoenixdataprocessing.com and Dairy Business Communications www.dairybusiness.com.

Multi Ag Media founding partners, John Montandon jmontandon@multiagmedia.com and Scott Smith ssmith@multiagmedia.com started the company in 1996 with the acquisition of National Farm Databank and Market Identification. Once merged, the business was renamed Farm Market iD. The database is compiled primarily from USDA grower information, as well as additional key data, particularly for non-program specialty crops, from state ag departments and EPA. Currently, the FMID database consists of almost 3 million detailed farm owner and operator records.

In 1998, Multi Ag entered the farm media world with its acquisition of HFW Communications in Syracuse, New York. HFW, owned by Joel Hastings, published dairy production titles in the West and the Midwest, as well as Holtstein World, the nation's premier publication for breeders of black and whites. Joel is a partner in Multi Ag Media and can be reached at jhastings@dairybusiness.com

Shortly after Multi Ag purchased HFW, the company launched a third commercial magazine in the Northseast, began creating commercial websites, and acquired DairyLine Radio in Lynden, Washington, the only network of affiliate stations to air dairy-specific information five days a week. DairyLine is operated by Lee Mielke, who can be reached at lmielke@dairyline.com Currently, DairyLine has almost 100 stations that broadcast its daily programs.

About the same time, the company acquired DairyProfit Weekly, an in-depth weekly newsletter focused on dairy commodity prices and the general dairy production market. Dave Natzke heads up the newsletter and can be reached at dnatzke@dairyprofit.com

In 2000, the company acquired Phoenix Data Processing located in the Chicago suburb of Westmont, Illinios. Phoenix was, initially, and remains, a highly successful direct marketing service bureau, performing merge/purge and complicated list processing, and state of the art list hygiene services, with a focus on the magazine publishing industry. Today, Phoenix continues to be a premier merge/purge processor, but has expanded dramatically into list fulfillment, data appending, database development, high end consumer database compiling, particularly in the new mover market. Phoenix and Farm Market iD are operated jointly, with Phoenix performing all the IT and other technical aspects for Farm Market iD.
